Don’t Believe Everything You Think

I’m just listening to this book. I purchased an audible copy. It’s very good. He distinguishes the difference between thoughts and thinking very clearly. I find I am very much aligned with his thoughts. Definitely worth reading. The link below is to a free audio copy on Youtube, (I use the ‘Brave’ browser, link below, as there are no ads).

Don’t Believe Everything You Think by Joseph Nguyen is a transformative guide to overcoming mental suffering by understanding the nature of thought. The book reveals how much of our stress and unhappiness stems from believing our thoughts as absolute truths, rather than seeing them as fleeting mental constructs. Nguyen introduces the concept of detaching from overthinking and aligning with a state of peace that already exists within us. Through practical insights and a blend of spirituality and psychology, the book encourages readers to question their assumptions, let go of limiting beliefs, and embrace a clearer, calmer mind for a more fulfilling life.

I’m loving this book. What’s standing out for me so far is his distinction between thoughts and thinking. He says thoughts arise naturally and thinking is a process that happens as a result of fear. Fear is the basis of everything unpleasant and thinking is part of our survival mechanism.
